Eora
In one sentence
Eora keeps everything on your phone. The app creates no account, sends no data to Loffay or to anyone else, and your nights never leave the device.
What it stores, all on the phone
Everything is written to the app's private storage and never leaves the phone.
- Settings: latest wake-up time, bedtime, alarm days, chosen sounds, volume and vibration, theme, pre-wake options.
- Wake-up history: for each night, the estimated time you fell asleep, the time the alarm rang, how you felt (1 to 5) and the cycle it went with. It fine-tunes the alarm and feeds your statistics.
- Detected sleep phases (awake, asleep, brief awakening…), so you can see what Eora made of your night.
The sensors, at night
Eora samples them through the night to estimate whether you're asleep, then forgets them right away: only the conclusions above are kept.
- Accelerometer (movement), light sensor, charging state, screen on or off.
- Usage statistics (the "usage access" permission): only the time of your last interaction with the phone, to guess when your sleep is light. No list of apps is kept or sent.
The internet connection
Eora declares the INTERNET permission, so here is why: it is reserved for the future Loffay account and for syncing between your apps.
The published version has no server address configured: the app contacts nothing. The day an account is offered, it will be explicit and optional, and this page will change first.
For that same account, Eora shares a session pass with the other Loffay apps, which only apps signed by Loffay can read. As long as there's no account, it's empty.
Permissions, and why
| Permission | What for |
|---|---|
| Exact alarms | Ring on the dot, even while the phone is idle. |
| Run at startup | Reschedule your alarm after a restart. |
| Full-screen notification | Show the wake-up screen over the lock screen. |
| Foreground service (playback) | Ring the alarm and play the Relax sounds in the background. |
| Notifications | Show the alarm, the pre-wake, what's playing. |
| Vibration | Make the alarm vibrate. |
| Keep the processor awake | Ring on the right second, screen off. |
| Usage access | Spot your inactivity to estimate when you fall asleep. |
| Ignore battery optimisation | Keep the system from delaying the alarm. |
| Do Not Disturb access | Ring even when Do Not Disturb is on. |
| Internet | Reserved for the future account. See above. |
| Loffay session | The pass shared between Loffay apps. See above. |
What Eora doesn't do
- No account, no sign-up.
- No ads, no trackers, no analytics.
- No sharing or selling of data, to anyone.
- No automatic cloud backup:
allowBackupis off on purpose, so nothing goes to Google unless you ask. When you change phones, your history doesn't follow.
Keeping and erasing
- Your data stays until you erase it (reset in the app), or uninstall the app. Uninstalling erases everything.
- Since nothing is sent, there is nothing to ask us to erase.
